Petrol price set to drop next week

HARD pressed consumers are set to benefit from a petrol price drop expected next week.
The price is expected to drop by about 60 cents a litre, while diesel is expected to go down by 90 cents.
“This drop in fuel prices will bring some relief to consumers because it will affect the prices of almost all commodities used by consumers,” Debt Rescue CEO Neil Roets said.
He said the expected drop comes at a time of an increase in the number of consumers under debt review.
“Debt counselling remains the best way for consumers to manage their debt load by negotiating with creditors and paying off their debt in smaller instalments over a longer period of time.
“None of their assets may be attached by debt collectors while they are under debt review.”
Economist Dawie Roodt said indebted consumers should use this opportunity to reduce their debt.
Roodt said the fact that a number of jobs had been lost showed that consumers were going through tough times.
Consumers in need of credit have been warned to stay away from unregistered credit providers.
